GRAND OPENING OF CARAFE WINE MAKERS
Saturday ended up being a perfect day for the grand opening of Carafe Winemakers. Cold and blustery outside, we walked up the red carpet feeling like VIPs going to the Oscar’s and entered. Once inside we were warmly greeted by owner Lamar Brown, who showed us around. We immediately noticed two things: 1) a violinist playing beautiful music, and 2) a packed house. Lamar was pleasantly surprised by the turnout. “We’re guessing over 400 people showed up,” Lamar told us later. “The shelves were bare well before we locked up. People stayed until 8:30 (the event was scheduled to end at 7).
When you start something new, there’s quite a bit of anxiety waiting for opening day. This turnout was much better than I anticipated, it was great.” “Carafe Wine Makers (we told you about them in August) is a small community winery where people can come in and make their own wine from 20 different varietals.” Lamar continued, “Its great wine made easy. We offer great wine at wholesale prices. There’s definitely a cost benefit when you come in and make your own wine. It’s also great fun!” What brought Carafe to Old Town? “I’ve been in the area for 8 years. Old Town was lacking a place to go and buy wine. I thought Carafe would be a great concept to bring here.” We agree. Congrats to Lamar Brown and Carafe Winemakers for a great new addition to Old Town. Cheers!
