About The Grapevine Tasting Club

The GrapeVine Tasting Club is a DC Metro area social wine tasting club that began meeting at Carafe WineMakers. Many people would love to learn more about wine, but don’t want to invest in a whole bottle, only to not enjoy or maybe not even know what’s in the bottle. The GrapeVine comes from the idea that by tasting and talking about wine, you learn about wine!

The goal of this tasting club is to remove the pretense of wine education and learn about varietals, regions, food and wine pairings…the list can go on and on. Each month will have a theme. On average, 6 different wines will be tasted during each meeting. Tanisha Townsend, Wine Educator, will guide us through the meeting, but don’t worry, there’ll be plenty of time to socialize, too. Where and when are tastings held?

Currently, The GrapeVine wine tastings are held twice a month. Schedules are posted to the website and e-mailed at the beginning of each month. Tastings are most always conducted at Carafe WineMakers in Alexandria and Intown Uptown Inn in Washington, DC.

How much is membership and how can I pay dues?

Annual membership to The GrapeVine Tasting Club is $60 and can be paid by personal check or cash at any of The GrapeVine Tasting Club meetings. Membership dues can also be paid using PayPal. All members will also need to fill out the GrapeVine Tasting Club Registration Form. Feel free to come to a tasting to check out our group first, and then you can decide! You do NOT need to become a member to come to a tasting!

What does membership provide me?

* A wine tasting glass with The GrapeVine logo (to be taken to and from tastings)
* Discounted fees at all GrapeVine Tasting Club monthly tastings
* 10% discounts on selected wines at Carafe Wine Makers and Chats Liquiors(wines changes monthly)

Can I come to a meeting if I’m not a member?

Absolutely! Just RSVP choosing a date from the current schedule to: thegrapevinellc@gmail.com or by calling Tanisha at 703.798.4659. Non-members pay on average between $15-20 to come to a tasting. Members pay between $5-10/tasting.
